MONROE, NORMA JEAN

Nicknames/Aliases: NJ...just NJ
Age: nineteen
Appearance: Hanna Beth Merjos
She is...Well, the best way to describe her would be unique considering she is not the most attractive apple that fell from the apple tree. Her hair has a sort of beach wave look to it, even though she grew up nowhere near the beach, and her hair is thick, looks pretty healthy, and is a dark chocolate tone. Let's see...Ah, her eyes. They sort of alternate between a sort of teal ocean color to a deep blue abyss tone. They, as people have told her, are apparently her best feature since they usually stand out against thick, onyx mascara. Her skin is like an apricot tone. It isn't overly tan and it isn't overly pale. It is sort of in the middle. Erm...She's about five feet tal with an added three inches, but for some reason her legs look really long both in person and on camera. Uh...she's slim and slender, obviously petite, and basically...She's just her, like stated in the begining. Nothing really crazy-except maybe the way she dress...No. That's pretty low key too, in her opinion at least. But the last thing that stands out about he ris her piercings and tatoos. She has her right nostril pierced, her tongue, her ears(about four times each-an industrial in her left ear), her eyebrow(though she took it out a while back due to training and it almost ripped out), and at one point she had a lip stud but removed that one as well. Her tatoos consist of a heart on her left hand index finger, a cupcake with her little sister's name on it on her left wrist, 'NJ' on the nape of her neck along with the outline of the state around it, the roman numeral for thirteen on the inside of her arm, We'll all laugh at gilded butterflies on her right shoulder blade, and a large cherry blossom on the back part of her left rib cage with petals blowing in the breeze that wrap around her back and down to her lower right hip. She adds a petal everytime someone significant dies in her life or she kills someone. There are a total of three large pedals and one medium sized pedal and twelve smaller ones. The bigger the petal the more significant they were in her life. So the three biggest ones represent her family, the medium one represents her ex lover and the smaller ones are the most insignificant but remind her that she is still human-and for killing them she'll have to pay for it when she actually passes on. It reminds her not to lose control.

Positive Traits:
- trustworthy: NJ is probably the most trustworthy gal on the face of the planet. Because she isn't one to talk much, she obviously is not one to spill anyone's secrets.
- loyal: NJ is the kind of person who, if she believes someone is right or believes in something, she would die for that purpose or person. She is as loyal as a dog because, well, she's got nothing to lose but her own life and to her, it ain't that valuable to begin with.
- good listener: If anyone ever needs to rant, NJ would probably be the best person to run to. Not only because she is trustworthy but because she knows when to simply shut up and simply listen and not interrupt. Yes, she can turn off the 'bitch' button.
- fighter: Combat. It is her specialty. Sure, she knows how to use weapons, but she's better at things such as kick boxing, ti jutsu, karate, martial arts...You name it-she traveled the world just to learn different styles of fighting. Why? Because she knows you won't have an infinite amount of bullets or weapons on you...So being overly prepared is better than under prepared.
- courageous: NJ is courageous and confident, anyone can tell you that. She is so because she, again, has nothing to lose. She basically, in her opinion, has only herself since her family is basically gone down the gutter in her book. The only person she ever really cares for is now her younger sister-Mary Lynn. So she would probably be the first one to dive head first into battle-since she knows that the person who has her little sister will keep her safe anyways.
- unique: NJ is definetly a unique person. She seems cold hearted, rude, blunt, and an obvious bitch on the outside but to anyone who knows her well enough(which is hard to do considering she tends to let NOONE and I mean NOONE into her life) they would see how sweet she truly is. She does have a heart underneath the cold exterior and that is what makes her unique in her own mysterious way.
- honest: This is one part of NJ that people could either love or hate. The loving part is, that she tells it how it is. If you ask her how you look, you better make sure you look good because she won't be afraid to tell yu you look like crap. That is just how she always was: straightforward.
- independent: NJ believes she needs noone. She basically lived without her parents since she was ten years old. That makes nine years. Yes, she still lived in their household but they were never around so when she reached sixteen she was already gone-she got her own place and everything, no need for parents...only when she needed them to sign crap at the hospital.
Negative Traits:
- blunt: This is the bad side to NJ's honesty. She can seriously get herself into trouble for this. Beyond the fact that she hardly speaks to begin with, when she does, it is usually blunt and straight to the point-no dancing in circles around the answers. If she dislikes you and someone asks her opinion about you, she will straight up tell them basically everything she thinks about you.
- cold: NJ is considered cold because of the fact that she does not speak much. When people look at her, she has this sort of calm, cool, collected predator type of feel to her, like she is ready to pounce on you and rip you to shreds if you make the wrong move.
- mysterious: People know little to nothing about NJ. For this reason, people find her mysterious and hard to approach because she can be so intimidating and uninviting.
- reserved: NJ does not like to get involved in anything she feels she should not be involved in. If there is an arguement, she refuses to be that third party stuck in between the other two. She simply keeps to herself. Plain and simple.
- prideful: You hurt her pride and she will come after you. It is not a threat-it is a promise. NJ can be a bit prideful, which shows by the way she confidently walks and holds herself. Her pride can also sometimes get the best of her.
- merciless: Was anyone merciful when her mother died? No. Was anyone merciful when NJ was diagnosed with ALL. No. For this reason, NJ is now merciless. It ties in with her heartless behavior. Life has made her this way.
- determined: Once she has her mind on it, she is usually stubborn and determined to do what has to be done.In a way this makes her sort of a perfectionist as well because even though she wants to get the job done, she likes to do it right the first time-not the fifth time.
- heartless: Her heartless nature ties in with her merciless and cold demeanor. She doesn't seem like someone who would cry at a chick flick or even shed a single tear for a dying animal. It seems like she is basically a hollow person, but really, it is simply her mask because she is truly scared out of her mind that one day she is simply going to drop dead from the cancer she has had since she was about five years old. It is her defense against the world. As if to say: she won't go down without a fight.
Knowledge/Skills: There are a multiple amount of reasons as to why Norma Jean Monroe avoided being uploaded. The first main reason was because she does not want to live forever. By living forever, she felt that it was like playing God, and she surprisingly found it disrespectful that people would do such a thing. Another is because the idea of forever seems like too long of a time-and ties in with the whole 'playing God' concept. People were meant to be born, live their life, reproduce, live some more, and then die. Death was and still is a part of life. People are just prolonging it out of fear. So, from the age of sixteen, NJ trained herself for the harshness and battles she would have to come in contact with. At first, she was basically on her own since her parents passed away and the orphanage that took her little sister from her converted themselves and her sister into people from the Net. So she lived just to defend herself. Recently, however, she had joined the resistance in hopes of bringing peace with those in the Net. The destruction of it could mean the destruction of he ronly living family member so that is the last thing she would ever hope for. So, because she has been training for a little over three years in various fighting skills from around the world, NJ is definetly someone you would want by your side if your weapon decided to fail on you. She is good with some basic mechanics, but the most she is ever good at is fixing up cars sinc she used to be a bit of a grease monkey. She is a lean mean fighting machine. Literally.
No weapons required.

Family:
- mother: Grace Marie Kelly-Monroe||ex model||deceased
- father: Torrance Jean Monroe||record company owner||deceased
- siblings: Mary Lynn Monroe||age five-orphan||in the Net
Romantic Involvements: n/a
Birthplace: Hoboken, New Jersey
Current Residence: Moscow, Russia
History: Let us start with Grace M Kelly. No, she wasn't the original Grace Kelly, but she was named after her and looked similar too her. She had the dark blond hair, the pretty eyes, and that sort of elegance to her. She was a very famous model when she first met Torrance Jean Monroe, who was the owner of the recording company electric lady records. Perfect match? Sort of. The two shared three lovely one night stands before Grace ended up pregnant with the future Norma. So, instead of doing something irrational, they did something irrational. Yes, I was being sarcastic. The got married in Vegas. Not daddy's dream wedding, but good enough. Quick, easy, and to the point. So as the story goes on, Grace K. became Grace K-Monroe. Lovely. She had Norma Jean Monroe on October 23rd and after that they lived happily ever after.
Wrong.
You see, Grace had a secret addiction to heroin. This of course lead to complications at Norma Jean's birth.Though she came out of the intensive care unit as healthy as a horse, though Grace dropped the habit, though Grace pretended like she did nothing wrong...It all came back to haunt her five years later in the form of a bruise, the size of a baseball, that she found on Norma's back when she was five years old and giving her a bath in their large home in Hoboken. The large bruise/bump turned into an emergency hospital visit. The emergency hospital visit turned into tons of analysis and scans along with test after test. All those tests lead to the final result two weeks later: Norma Jean Monroe had ALL.
Now, this form of leukemia is a cancer that effects the white blood cells which fights off infections. Basically, Norma really bruises like a peach, she often would get joint and bone pain from the lack of bone marrow, and she was usually the one who would have to go to the hospital for blood transfusions, bone marrow transplants, and because her liver and spleen would get swollen. Norma Jean spent the majority of her life in a hospital...It was a fact that she grew up with. Hell, she missed her own prom because she had a leukemia relapse where she simply passed out from a giant headache after barfing all over her dress. Way to go...
However, this hadn't been the worst of Norma's problem while growing up. Having ALL since the age of five was something, by the age of only seven, that simply became part of her everyday life. She would be fine for a couple months, then relapse for maybe another year, and then it would repeat the process over and over again. Her body simply could not continue to fight off the cancer for too long of a period of time and chemotherapy would not help in this situation-it was not an option. But the worst news probably came when Norma was around the age of ten...Even worse was that she was the one who witnessed it.
At the age of ten, Norma was simply one of the boys. She was adventurous, always climbing trees and running around even though her mother would be a nervous wreck. Though she wouldn't bruise as easily as she used to, she still did-so her mother was constantly watching her. One day, March 31st to be exact, after coming in from playing outside with the neighbor's kid, Aiden, Norma came inside for lunch. Knowing her mother would probably send her to go get her father anyways, Norma went up the stairs quietly and noticed the bathroom door slightly open. When she opened it she saw her father's face pressed against the bathrom counter, making a snorting sound as he obviously snorted up some white powder. Before Norma could ask her father what he was doing, Grace suddenly grabbed her thin shoulders to pull her away, yelling at her for invading her father's privacy and shaking her as she did. Norma was confused...Vry confused...
And when Torrance turned around and noticed them, with a bloody nose, he looked ill. His face was pale and he simply looked...exhausted...When his eyes landed on Norma's confused and hurt expression, he raced out the door. Grace let go of Norma and followed after, Norma following after her mother. He ran into their truck, closing the door behind him. Grace banged on the window for him to get out, screaming every curse word in the book. Apparently their marriage hadn't been as perfect as Norma thought it was...
That was when Grace raced inside to call the police, looking beyond angry at seeing her husband doing drugs...But once Grace was gone, too enraged to realize she could simply open the door, Norma opened the door to the truck, ready to apologize for whateve she did wrong and as she did-the shot rang.
At point blank range, her father had stuck a gun in his mouth and shot himself right in front of Norma. When Grace came out after hearing the noise, a loud shriek like yell came from her. It was one mixed of rage, mixed of pain, mixed of depression, agony...Like she was letting out every emotion imaginable out of her system.
After that, nothing was the same. Norma became more enclosed, started relapsing more often than staying healthy, and her mother was never around. She had gotten back on heroin and would only come by the house to drop a wad of cash for Norma before disappearing for another month or two-appearing in the hospital whenever necessary for Norma. The girl was basically raised by her best friend, Aiden, who was three years older than her. He would invite her over for dinner, often check on her... The two eventually went from being best friends to simply being together...Until Norma reached the age of sixteen and her mother decided to step back into her life. So what did Norma do when her mother filed for sagitory rape against Aiden? Norma left. Plain and simple. It didn't matter-because Norma did not want Aiden to end up in jail and she simply did not want her mother back in her life.
Norma, with all the money she inherited from her father, decided to travel the world-and learn fighting skills. She was hoping this would help her get stronger and fight off ALL better. She became healthier, going into relapses less and so on. But when she turned eighteen, after being gone from New Jersey for two full years, she received a letter from Aiden's mother saying he was in a car accident and passed away. And when the age of the Net came to be, her mother accidentally overdosed and left behind a little girl-named Mary Lynn-who apparently was Norma's half sister. Norma went back to New Jersey and was able to take Mary with her on her travels-getting to know her and help her-until the government stepped in and took Mary Lynn away, sending her to an orphanage since Norma did not have a stable job.
Around this time was when everyone was going into the net, but Norma refused. They were playing God. Norma wanted to beat the odds, she wanted to fight her cancer not just let it kill her body so she can live in some psychotic net thing. So she was never uploaded and for a long time, she simply traveled alone and lived alone....Somethng she still does, but will sometimes help out the resistance. This isn't her fight-she knows it is there's. If she fights, it is for her little sister, who was uploaded against her own will.
